The 4th annual conference of IAAE will take place in Sapporo, the fourth largest city in Japan and is home of two million people. It is one of the most popular travel destinations in Japan attracting tourists from all over the world. Its popularity is due to its ease of access, urban convenience, proximity to nature, local indigenous culture, and most importantly, culinary arts. Mid- June is the ideal season to visit Sapporo because of the sunny and pleasant climate with relatively low precipitation. We are confident that the conference participants will enjoy our beloved city.
The conference venue, Hotel Emisia, is right next to Shin-Sapporo JR station, with easy access to and from Sapporo Chitose International Airport (CTS) and the city center. When coming from the airport, the hotel can be seen from the train right before you arrive at Shin-Sapporo JR station on the right.
Sapporo Chitose International Airport (CTS) is served by major airlines. Between Tokyo Haneda Airport (HND) and CTS, there are flights every 30 to 60 minutes, flown both by ANA (Star Alliance) and JAL (Oneworld) often with Boeing 777.
(It is possible to take Shinkansen bullet train from Tokyo to Hakodate and another express train from Hakodate to Sapporo. It takes more than 8 hours and costs around 28,000 JPY.)
